Shehecheyanu - A Post About New Beginnings

It's not official until it is "Facebook Official," right? I'm very happy to say that, last night, I was able to post the following on Facebook ... .

=====

4/25/21 ...

Following this afternoon's congregational vote, I will become Temple Emanuel of Tempe's next Senior Rabbi as of June 1st. 🙂
Thank you to everyone who has been walking this path with me, especially
Temple Emanuel
's fantastic Search Committee, chaired by Michael Waxman. It has been a pleasure to engage in the holy process of selecting your community's new spiritual leader.
I am honored to serve this sacred community and look forward to meeting my new congregants, both via Zoom and safely in person, when I begin my new position. I hope you join me on the next part of my journey! : )
PS ... For those of you who don't know Tempe, it is a suburb of Phoenix, which is a fabulous Jewish community. ASU is in Tempe ... they have spring training and tons of arts opportunities, all surrounded by beautiful deserts and mountains. It will be a great place for me and the Cheech to live! 🙂

And now, a Jewish blessing -- the "Shehecheyanu" -- the blessing for new experiences / the first time you do something / the first time you do something in a year:
Baruch Atah Adonai, Elohaynu Melech haOlam, Shehecheyanu v'kiy'manu v'higianu lazman hazeh.
Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Ruler of the universe, who has given us life, who sustains us, and who brought us to this very special moment in time! 🙂
